Lady Yoe sweep Rockdale at home

The Lady Yoe volleyball team finally returned home after an extended time on the road to take on the Rockdale Lady Tigers on Tuesday night where Cameron won handily, sweeping Rockdale 3-0. 

The first two points of the first set went to Rockdale, then Cameron came back and tied the set at 2. The set remained even until the Lady Yoe scored on an ace by Saydi Wimmer (12) for a 12-9 lead. Cameron stayed aggressive with a powerful kill by Ka’Sara Brooks (4) to take a 16-12 advantage, then continued to extend that lead to 20-12.  The Lady Yoe continued to stay well ahead with a kill by Wimmer for a commanding 23-14 lead. Cameron won the first set 25-17 ending with an ace by Brooks. 

The first point of the second set went to Rockdale, but Cameron responded with a 4-0 run to go ahead 4-1. Wimmer continued her incredible night with two consecutive kills to make it a 7-2 advantage. The Lady Yoe began to pull away and grew their lead to double digits at 12-2. Rockdale tried to claw their way back with a 6-1 run to make the score 13-8, but Cameron halted their momentum with two points aided with a huge block by Ava Magre (6) to make the score 15-8. The Lady Yoe surged ahead with an ace by Wimmer to expand their lead to double digits again at 18-8. Cameron shut Rockdale down the rest of the set and won the second set in convincing fashion 25-8. 

Rockdale started the third set strong, scoring the first three points. Cameron broke the drought with a kill by Brooks to make it a 3-1 deficit. Rockdale remained ahead 5-2, but the Lady Yoe marched back and tied the set at 5 with an ace by Kennedy Banks (11). Cameron took the lead 7-5, then Rockdale rallied back to tie the set at 8. The Lady Yoe soon answered with two consecutive kills by Magre to take an 11-9 lead. Cameron remained ahead with a big spike from Banks to make the score 14-11. The Lady Yoe remained aggressive with a kill by Wimmer to make it an 18-14 lead. Brooks also continued her fantastic game with a block to increase the lead to 21-14. The Lady Yoe held strong to win the third set 25-15 and complete the sweep. 

With this victory, Cameron has a record of 15-14 and a district record of 1-4. 

The Lady Yoe volleyball team traveled to take on the Thrall Tigerettes on Friday, Sept. 27. The Lady Yoe was swept by Thrall 3-0, losing the first set 25-12, the second set 25-17, and the third set 25-14.

Up next, the Lady Yoe will travel to take on the Rogers Lady Eagles. The game will be on Friday, Oct. 4, and is set for 4:30 p.m.
