Lady Yoe top Rockdale

The Cameron Lady Yoe softball team traveled to take on the Rockdale Lady Tigers on Saturday, March 9. The Lady Yoe shut out Rockdale, winning 9-0. 

The Lady Yoe opened up the scoring in the second inning when Camryn Ward stole home plate, giving Cameron a 1-0 lead. Cameron would increase their lead with eight more runs throughout the game with two in the fourth inning, two in the fifth inning, and four in the sixth inning. Camryn Ward and Kasara Brooks were a force together in the lineup, as they each led the team with two hits. Lindsay Talafuse and Ward each drove in two runs for the Lady Yoe.

Zayda Spillers stepped in the circle first for Cameron. She gave up two hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking none. Makenna Bailey threw two innings of zero-run ball for the Lady Yoe in relief. The righty allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none. 

The Lady Yoe returned home on Monday, March 11, to host the Troy Trojanettes. Cameron fell to Troy, losing 10-1. 

Troy opened the game with four runs in the first inning and never looked back. The lone highlight was Kasara Brooks scoring on an RBI triple from Camryn Ward in the fourth inning.

The Lady Yoe traveled the next day to face Troy once again. Cameron was defeated by the Trojanettes, losing 9-4. 

With this loss, Cameron now has a record of 11-8-1 and a district record of 2-2. 

Up next, the Lady Yoe will return home to host the Rogers Lady Eagles. The game will be Tuesday, March 19, and is set to start at 6 p.m.
