Lady Yoe win Leon Tournament consolation; defeat Whitney in three

The Lady Yoe volleyball team continued with tournament play this week out in Leon. 

The Lady Yoe went 2-1 in day one of the Jewett Leon tournament on Thursday. Cameron earned two straight set sweeps over Snook and Mexia before falling to tournament host Jewett Leon. Cameron defeated the Snook Lady Blue Jays 25-16 in the first set and dominated the second set 25-11. Cameron then took on the Mexia Lady Black Cats 25-14 in the first set and then 25-17 in the second set. In the matchup with the Leon Lady Cougars, Cameron lost 25-11 in the first set and 25-21 in the second set. 

The Lady Yoe were back in action on Friday with a loss against the Southwest Christian Lady Eagles losing in two sets, a two set loss against the Bremond Lady Tigers, and a 2-1 victory versus the Central Heights Lady Blue Devils before starting bracket play on Saturday. Cameron lost to Southwest Christian 26-24 in the first set then 25-14 in the second set. Cameron was blasted 25-9 in the first set then lost 25-21 in the second set. Cameron then beat Central Heights 25-21 in the first set, lost 27-25 in the second set, and won 25-15 in the second set in order to qualify for the silver bracket that they would play on Saturday.

The Lady Yoe would win the consolation of the silver bracket at the Leon tournament Saturday. 

The day started with a loss to the Groesbeck Lady Goats in two sets. This would be followed by wins over the Onalaska Lady Wildcats in a two set sweep and a 2-1 win over the Teague lionesses to clinch the consolation. 

The Lady Yoe were back in action on the road against the Whitney Lady Wildcats on Tuesday before heading to the Johnson City tournament next Friday and Saturday. Cameron was victorious in their battle with Whitney as they swept the Lady Wildcats 3-0. 

Cameron obliterated Whitney in the first set 25-7, won 25-23 in the second set, and then won 25-19 in the third set to win the game and bring their record to 12-9 on the year. This weekend, the Lady Yoe will be participating in another in-season tournament hosted by Johnson City and it will start on Friday.
