Walk-off seals the deal for Yoemen over Whitney in game 1

The Yoemen took the first game of a series with Whitney on Thursday night in Salado.

A walk-off single led the team past Whitney 7-6. The game was tied at six with Yoe batting in the bottom of the seventh when Bobby Borgas singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Yoemen were boosted by Adam Cardona who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Cardona singled in the second, homered in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh.

The Yoemen got things moving in the first inning.

After Whitney scored one run in the top of the fifth, Cameron answered with one of their own.

Ryan Host pitched the Yoemen to victory. The righthander lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and one run while walking one.

Hightower took the loss for Whitney. The hurler allowed one hit and one run over one-third of an inning, walking zero.

Brannon McCall started the game for Yoe. The righty lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out three Estill started the game for Whitney. The pitcher surrendered six runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out two

The Yoemen tallied one home run on the day. Cardona put one out in the fourth inning.

Cameron tallied 13 hits on the day. Cardona, Borgas, Marino Cardona, and Jaidyn Sanchez each had multiple hits. Cardona went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Cameron in hits.

Winkler led Whitney with two hits in three at bats. Whitney was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Peacock made the most plays with five.

Game 2 will be played tonight, May 21, in Whitney at 7:30 p.m. the series will return to Cameron on Saturday for game 3 if needed.
