Yoe soccer defeats Lorena, falls to Marlin
The Cameron Yoemen soccer team traveled to take on the Lorena Leopards on Friday January 26. The Yoemen came out victorious, defeating aLorena 2-1. Cameron returned home on Tuesday January 30 to host the Marlin Bulldogs. The Yoemen were shut out by Marlin, losing 2-0.
Cameron held Marlin in check for most of the first half, but committed a handball foul in the 37th minute. This gave the Bulldogs a penalty kick opportunity, and Marlin capitalized to lead Cameron 1-0. The Yoemen had several different chances within the final few seconds of the first half, but came up empty and went into halftime trailing 1-0. Cameron had multiple chances to tie the score in the second half, including a corner kick in the 42nd minute, a free kick in the 52nd minute, and another corner kick in the 67th minute. Marlin would deliver the dagger with a goal in the 76th minute to double their lead and win the match 2-0.
With this loss, Cameron has an overall record of 5-7 and a district record of 3-2. Cameron will not play Friday, as it will be their off day. Up next, the Yoemen will have a road matchup against the Waco La Vega Pirates. The game will be Tuesday February 6 and is set to start at 7 p.m.
