Yoemen take care of Whitney, set for Buna

The Cameron Yoemen got out to a six-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 7-5 victory over Whitney on Friday. 

Whitney scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Cade Baker in the fifth, a double by Levi Whitehead in the fifth, and a single by Jaxon Montgomery in the seventh.

Whitney scored four runs in the fifth inning, but Cameron still managed to pull out the victory. Baker and Whitehead all drove in runs in the frame.

Landon Greene led the Yoemen to victory on the mound. The pitcher surrendered four runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Tracer Lopez threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Nate Callaway took the loss for Whitney. Callaway allowed five hits and six runs over four innings, striking out six.

Greene went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead they Yoemen.

The Yoemen will take on Buna Wednesday night in Huntsville in the next round. Game 2 has not been set yet, but will likely be Saturday due to graduation ceremonies.
