Woman arrested for string of Central Texas burglaries

A woman is in custody after several stolen items were found in a residence in Thorndale last week. The Milam County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 200 block of North Main Street in Thorndale on Thursday morning, Jan. 31. The search warrant allowed deputies to search for and recover stolen property from within the home and buildings located on the property. According to Milam County Sheriff Chris White, details and evidence obtained by deputies indicated that the resident, Pepper Sue Bowsher, was responsible for burglaries committed throughout central Texas over the last 30 to 60 days. Bowsher is facing charges of two burglaries in Milam County, five burglaries in Travis County, and one burglary in Tom Green County. White said that during the investigation it was revealed that Bowsher was using her residence in Thorndale to store stolen items. A search warrant was issued by 20th District Judge John Youngblood early Thursday morning, Jan. 31, and deputies along with Thorndale Police and Travis County Sheriff’s investigators searched the residence. During the search investigators determined that several pieces of property were related to the Travis County burglary cases and were seized for return to their owners. There were no items that could be positively identified as belonging to any other victims, including the cases involving Milam County residents.

“Although we did not recover any other stolen property from our own burglary cases, Investigators are continuing to examine other leads and are moving forward with the investigation,” White said.
