Eagles fall to Thorndale
The Milano Eagles (6-19, 2-8) hosted No. 12 Thorndale on Tuesday night in District 25-2A play at Geneva Paceley Gym. Milano fell 91-40 to the league leading Bulldogs. The Eagles also fell on Friday night in a 91-36 loss at Hearne. Freshman Weston Avrett put up 10 points and five rebounds to lead Milano. “Weston played hard and well…,” Eagles head coach Kyle Edwards said. Milano will play its final home game on Friday when they host Thrall back at Geneva Paceley Gym. The Eagles will finish up their basketball season on Tuesday at Holland.
Junior High boys take on Rockdale
They Cameron Junior High Boys Basketball teams were in action last Thursday night against the Rockdale Tigers. The Seventh Grade B Team came from behind to tie it up in the fourth period. The game ended in a 17-all tie as time expired. The Eighth Grade B Team redeemed themselves from the previous loss to the Tigers by dominating them on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. The game ended with a 24-9 victory over the Tigers. The Seventh Grade A Team came back from a 10-point deficit at the half to out score the Tigers in the second half 23-10. The game ended with a 28-25 thrilling win by the Yoemen. The Eighth Grade A Team closed out the evening with a total team win over Rockdale by a score of 43-29. The Young Yoemen will travel to Lexington tonight to continue with district play.
Junior High Lady Yoe sweep Rockdale
The Junior High Lady Yoe swept Rockdale on Jan. 31. The Eighth Grade B Team won 10-7. Scorers were Alejandra Tapia with 10 points and Nereida Cardona with four points. The Seventh Grade A Team won in a fourth quarter comeback, 29-21. Scorers were Yierra Flemings with 12 points, Railyn Youree with four points, Seally Smith with three points, Nevaeh Billingsley with two points, Camryn Green with two points, Taytum Moore with two points, Macie Vaculin with two points, and Camryn Ward with two points. The Eighth Grade A Team won 26-18. Scorers were Sydni Smith with 12 points, Kaly White with nine points, and Lauren Harris with five points.
